Presentation of the club

The CR IIm is an association dedicated to the gathering of model railroaders and amateurs of live steam at scales I (1:32), Fn3 (1:20,3) and garden railroads at scale IIm (1:22,5).

As a non-profit organisation, our association's full name is Club Romand de modélisme ferroviaire à l'échelle IIm - Voie de 45 (CR IIm), which can be translated into Western Switzerland Model Railroad club at scale IIm - Track of 45mm (shortened as CR IIm).

Founded in 1988, the club membership reach today around 60 members.

The goals of the CR IIm are the gathering of friends of the scales IIm, Fn3 and I, the operation of modular layouts, the encouragement and promotion of a modular operating system compatible between members, and the sharing of information and experience.

The premises of the CR IIm is located in the heart of the region of the Gros-de-Vaud, in the village of Etagnières VD. Our association is open to any person interested in model railroading, or practising one of the above-mentioned scale of modelling.

The CR IIm operates two layouts, one dedicated to live steam and the other one to electric trains (also known as the "Swiss layout"); the club has built and now use modules, which enable the organisation of modular layout exhibitions, and allow the running of trains remaining the property of the members of the association.

The stations of the electric layout (or Swiss layout) are usually the property of members who built and/or financed them, anyhow 3 stations are now the ownership of the club : the fictitious station of Lucens which is the terminal upper station, the modular station of Etagnières-Etang, and the recently completed station of Blonay ; a new cogwheel line links Blonay to Lucens.

Pursuant to the statutes of the association adopted by the General Assembly, every member of the CR IIm shall pay an annual fee aimed at supporting the association, as an active or contributing member (supporter). In addition to the program of activities and meetings proposed during the year, each member receives La Traverse (literally The Railway Sleeper), the official publication presenting the different activities organised by the CR IIm and sharing articles submitted to the editor.
